Did the provocative title catch your eye? Well it better did. The prime method of action in this day and age appears to have become looking away from the plight of those around you, neglecting a duty of protection over the youngest and the weakest of our folk. The prime method of action has become inaction.

Everyone is so proud of South Africa, how a supposedly derelict African nation is able to organise such a grand-scale sporting event. Unlike many others, I still read my daily newspaper to inform myself. I read columns about the aftermath of Apartheid still having an adverse affect upon the Black population and all that nonsense. What I don’t read about however is the plight and discrimination that especially the Afrikaans-speaking part of the population is suffering.
