Traffic Signs and Social Crutches

While reading through the news this week, one article in particular stood out to me. A simple article on the surface, “Why Street Signs Make Traffic More Dangerous”. The article touts the vision of traffic engineer Hans Monderman, who started, maybe without due recognition, the counterintuitive “Shared Space” movement that unites pedestrian, cyclist and automotive traffic into one area, often leading to the decrease in accidents, and often with little to no signage.
