Shocked? Yes. Appalled? Yes. Angered? Yes. But Surprised… No.

So this week we saw a Saxon queen’s identity verified, a tiny figure from the Orkneys reach national headlines, and ancient cave paintings found in Romania, but the big news I think came out of Ohio… Yes, the verification that wood and Styrofoam do indeed burn quite well, especially when shaped into a gaudy (pun intended) visage of Jesus signaling the winning touchdown. Obviously the Gods are Soccer fans…
Traffic Signs and Social Crutches
While reading through the news this week, one article in particular stood out to me. A simple article on the surface, “Why Street Signs Make Traffic More Dangerous”. The article touts the vision of traffic engineer Hans Monderman, who started, maybe without due recognition, the counterintuitive “Shared Space” movement that unites pedestrian, cyclist and automotive traffic into one area, often leading to the decrease in accidents, and often with little to no signage.
