Here’s Thor! S-Korea and 60 More Nations
Last weekend, Legends of Valhalla: Thor, Iceland’s first full length animated feature film, had its first international premier in South Korea
And what a weekend. More than 150,000 people saw the movie, which thereby overtook Star Wars 3D, War Horse and Happy Feet 2 to become the number one foreign movie in South Korea.
The film has already been sold to 60 countries, and South Korea happened to be first on the long list. It was directed by Óskar Jónasson. Incidentally, he wrote the screenplay of Reykjavík Rotterdam, an Icelandic film which was later remade as Contraband directed by Baltasar Kormákur. So far, that is the world’s biggest grossing movie of 2012.
